Australia is one of the most amazing countries on earth. Its diverse landscape embraces modern
cities, historic towns and villages spectacular mountains and rivers and a coastline that streches
from sea-ravaged cliffs to tropical beaches. The vast distances of the sun-baked interior contrast
with the lush pastures and vibrant coastal cities that are are the hub of commerce and community in each state. From tropical Queensland to the wilderness of Tasmania, each of the country s states and territories has its own style and destinctive landscape. The red deserts and endless horizons of central Australia give way to the alpine areas of the Snowy Mountains in the southeast while the dense rainforests and coral reefs of the north-east contrast with vineyards and farming pastures of the south. Withinthis diversity of climate and topography, the population is spread between isolated settlements; cosmoplitan, thriving cities; and inland, dusty towns.
