Stephen Downes
Stephen Downes is Australia pre-eminent restaurant critic and food writer. Advanced Australian Fare, his history of Australian restaurants and the development of an Australian cooking style, won the Outstanding Food Book of The Year at the 2003 Australian Food Media Awards and he has been honoured internationally. Two of his books have been translated into a total of five languages. A professional restaurant critic for 34 years, Stephen has been, at various times, a regular contributor to The Age, The Sunday Age, Gourmet Traveller, The Australian Financial Review and the Herald Sun.
