Who is Ichabod X? Is it true that he can see visions of the future fate of our endangered planet Earth?
Gary Crew (author of the award winning The Watertower) and artistic genius Paul O Sullivan invite the reader to explore and possibly discover the meaning behind the haunting, futuristic visions of Ichabod X.

Dr Gary Crew is Associate Professor, Creative Writing, and Program Leader of Creative Writing at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Gary has lectured and run Creative Writing workshops throughout Australia, the UK, the USA, Asia and the Pacific.
He has won the Australian Children's Book of the Year award four times, twice for his novels, twice for his illustrated books. He is one of Australia's most awarded authors for children and young adult literature.

Paul's thoughts..I thought I might tell you something of the inspiration for the illustrations in Ichabod X. Both Luella and I are old movie tragics. I have long been fascinated with early cinema, particularly the silent film era. When I was composing the illustrations I had in mind two ground breaking movies of the silent age. Pioneer French cinematographer George Melies genius work ' A trip to the moon' created in 1902 ...The world's first sci fi movie. And of course towards the end of that era 'Metropolis' by Fritz Lang 1927. It must be obvious how the image of the boy in the machine on the books end papers correlates with the robot being turned into a woman in the metropolis laboratories.
